We received over 430 baby name entries for our baby naming contest. Our panel of judges have selected the following names:
Ronnie, Sandy and Pee Wee
Ronnie and Sandy (Sandra) were the names of George and Gracie’s children on the George Burns and Gracie Allen Show and Pee Wee was our beloved chick who met his unfortunate end in the nest. Thank you to Leah from Greensboro, North Carolina for entering the name Ronnie. Thank you to Janet of East Northport, NY for entering the name Sandy. And thank you to Elaine from Sarasota, FL for entering the name Pee Wee. Please note: there were many entries with duplicate names, these were the first people who entered these names. Thank you to all who participated in the contest!
Just saw the comment about the chick tangled leg.. I am glad someone is going to help or at least try.. “maybe that same person rescued the third one and hes living in a shelter for rescued animals “
Where is the baby? Did the little one make it or de?? is he off to the side or covered until the cloth in the nest I hope someone rescued him I logged off for days
too unbearable for me
someone give me good news?
It is too heartbreaking for me to watch survival of the fittest is a difficult issue I want to climb up there and rescue the youngest bird
I cant watch this happen I already have a series of strong emotions now .. I wont watch him die
thank you for sharing but I can no longer watch .. I hope someone does rescue him
Yesterday afternoon I saw the little one shoot a poop and hit the aggressive one..really angery he then went over and pecked unmercifully at the little one. Then the other joined in on the pecking…turned off connection.
This is the highlight of my day, watching these birds interact.. I cringe at the bullying tactics of the big brothers.
But I noticed Pee Wee got her share of the fish tonight!
I think whoever runs this website should go help the little baby that’s being bullied. Although I do think human intervention into wild animal issues is wrong, we are all sitting here watching this baby be murdered brutally by its siblings. Somebody should go take him out of the nest so he doesn’t die instead of just sitting here watching him be almost eaten alive.
my heart is breaking for this little guy or gal Tommy is a very good friend of mine and told me about his site I’ve been watching since the beginning i really was upset this evenings feeding and even cried I’m praying for this little guy with all my heart
Thank you for this website its awesome I watched everyday
watching the little one get pecked at I lose it I pace until he gets to eat I hope he or she makes it
What the little ones chances..sometimes very hard to watch…

Re survival of third chick. let us not despair!! I saw the smallest chick this AM getting some food by aligning himself close to Mom.
Also, just returned from Naples FL. This winter, OUR ospreys also had three chicks. ALL of them fledged. SO, let us send good, hopeful vibes that these adorable LI chicks will all be successful also!!
Yes, I also saw the little one chow down quite a bit this morning. Good for him/her!! The baby is also getting a little ‘pushy’ with it’s two other siblings, which is great news!
I sure hope the little one can defend itself. I get very upset that one of the big ones tries to hurt the baby. I know it’s nature, but I just can’t stand to see it.

I am happy to see that the two babies are growing strong.. I hope they fly soon.. the anticipation is killing me…
Naming babies would be easier if we knew their sex
Still enjoying this wonderful site. I wish it could go on always….
A whole lotta comments have disappeared from the site. That’s too bad.
🙁

I agree…I cried yesterday watching them peck away at the little one…no more for me at this time…

Does anyone know what will happen if the baby dies, do the parents remove it from the nest?

What happened to the third baby?
The baby is there, not doing well at all..does anyone know what happens if little one dies…will the mother take the baby away from nest?

I saw one of the larger chicks ‘beating up’ the little one, but I guess he held his own!
I sure hope the little one can defend itself. I get very upset that one of the big ones tries to hurt the baby. I know it’s nature, but I just can’t stand to see it.
I have been watching here and there..I have not seen little one get anything yet..what r her chances to survive?
Thanks for setting this up. This is really fascinating to watch. Our own personal National Geocam!
Has anyone seen the little one get any goodies this morning? Thanks!
Sandra Jean and Ronnie (the Burns’ adopted children) and Nattie (George Burns’ nickname).
