Belle’s Journey
Written by Dr. Rob Bierregaard & Illustrated by Kate Garchinsky
Take flight with Belle, an osprey born on Martha’s Vineyard as she learns to fly and migrates for the first time to Brazil and back–a journey of more than 8,000 miles.
IMPORTANT: Messages from osprey experts
I haven’t seen the little guy yet this morning, but I would be very surprised if he survived the night. That sure was tough to watch yesterday, but that whole process is as much a part of the essence of being an Osprey as is eating a fish. It’s part of the life of Ospreys that was rarely seen before we started putting cameras in nests. As hard as it is, we should not label the behavior as mean or cruel. Being mean or cruel implies that there is intent to do harm just for harm’s sake. Those young were responding to a set of stimuli (very little food being delivered to the nest and the presence of a very small young) in a way that evolution has hard-wired into them. It helps ensure their survival. Nature is not cruel. It is harsh, unforgiving, and often random (had the little guy been born 1st, he would have been just as aggressive as was his sibling), but not cruel or mean.

Thanks Rob for bringing your knowledge and experience to help us all gain perspective here. We are all saddened by the events that unfolded before our eyes and it’s only natural for all of us to feel and express our emotions appropriately. There have been many issues pertaining to intervention which have been discussed amongst us all. There is no doubt in my mind that the right decision was made, to let nature take it’s course. By the way, that doesn’t equate to heartless, on the contrary, nobody feels worse about this then the apparent decision makers. I say apparent, because when all was said and done, and all the issues were properly weighed, there really weren’t any other options. It was clearly pointed out, by experts, that intervening at this stage could have spooked the whole nest to the point of losing all the young. If the little one was saved, and nursed back to health, what kind of a life would it have had, perhaps caged up in a zoo. I remember when I was younger I saw a golden eagle in captivity, caged behind a wire mesh. I could practically see it’s tears. As far as placing the little one in another nest, such a low probability of success would never have justified the possibility of spooking the nest. There’s a piece of me, however heavy hearted, that believes that perhaps it is better to be born free and die free. We mourn for the little one as we marvel at the wonders of nature.
Hello Paul,
Thanks for your query, and you have my admiration for persevering. We know very well how tough your job is, including dealing with an anxious public.
Our policy with our Bird Cams project is essentially “just say no” to pleas for interference. The behavior you are witnessing – while seemingly cruel and heartless to us – is natural for many kinds of birds, especially those that feed on variable, unpredictable food supplies. The little nestling does have a chance to survive, but if it does not then that result was “meant to be” by the nature of Osprey breeding strategy. The wonderful things about these nest cameras also sometimes yield the difficult things for us to watch. As you might know, we actually post a “siblicide alert” on some of our cams where we suspect the possibility exists.
I’m copying your note to Charles Eldermire, project leader for our Bird Cams. He may have some additional comments, and he would be the one to ask if we might be able to use your stored files for biological analysis.
Best wishes, and good luck,
John W. Fitzpatrick
Director, Cornell Lab of Ornithology
It’s also important to acknowledge that intervening can also cause problems of its own—depending on the ages of the birds in the nest, disturbing them can trigger an early fledge. We have restricted the scenarios in which we would even consider intervening to injuries or dangers that are explicitly human-derived. For example, 3 or 4 years ago we were alerted by viewers that one of the osprey chicks at the Hellgate Osprey nest was entangled in monofilament line. We consulted with our partners there (wildlife biologists, raptor researchers, raptor rehabbers) to determine if the monofilament was an issue, and if intervening was both likely to solve the issue AND not have bad effects on the other nestlings. In the end, a quick trip to the nest was scheduled via a bucket truck, the monofilament was removed, and the nestlings all eventually fledged. In that case, all of the permits were already in hand to be studying the ospreys, and we had already discussed how to approach issues in the nest.
Good luck to the young one—hope it all turns out well.

I’ve been to your site—great cam! And I noticed the runt in the nest. This is just normal Osprey reproduction. It happens all the time and you should not intervene. It’s tough to watch, but it’s how nature works. Ospreys almost always lay 3 eggs and on average fledge between 1 and 1.5 young each year. They stagger the hatch so there is a spread of ages in the young. That way, if food is short, the first-hatched (and therefore largest) will get enough food to survive while the smaller nest mates do not. If all three young were the same size and there was only enough food for 1 young, none of the young would get enough food and they would all die. If there’s lots of food, the smallest will eventually get fed and can survive. These nest cams can show some gut-wrenching scenes. The most infamous perhaps was one of the very first Osprey cams (on Long Island somewhere), where the smallest young died. One of the adults carried it out of the nest and after several minutes flew back into the nest and fed it to the other young. Waste-not-want-not at its goriest. At Hog Island up in Maine just last week a Bald Eagle came in and took the young out of the nest. Last year at another nest, cameras documented a Great-horned Owl taking young Ospreys out of a nest in NJ or MD. All of these things have been going on for millions of years and Ospreys are doing fine.

Was just about to give up when George popped in with a whittled 🐟……stayed a few waiting for Jane
Waits no more!
Someone joins him…..Jane?
This isn’t quite working….maybe this angle
Fish tales today…..itty bitty gets a whopper …..wont be itty bitty much longer!
Love the wings!!
See ya later!
Itsy bitsy spider came up the camera “spout”…..
At work early, weaving….
The sun’ii come out tomorrow…… and it did!
It was such a refreshing sleeping night! No freekin’ fan; a light throw; and my kitty, Starjones, back sleepin on my shoulder……. she’s taken the hot weather off and slept elsewhere…
I thought I was going kookoo….. scanning through the timeline, I would glimpse George and then he was gone! Figured out that once again, there are gaps in the timeline….. between maybe 5:15 and 6ish. Could be others ..
Anyhow, this was right at the edge of one. George looks good in 50 shades of gray…..
George did bring a fish but no Jane . He was in and out several times, with an ever shrinking fish, but she didn’t show in time.
Jane checks in…. George meets her.
They’ve been in and out since.
They did do the guarding stance at one point… pests on the move…. or jealous ex-girlfriend…
In came a osprey and wiped the spider out!
Good night 😴!
The neighborhood watch on patrol…. 2nd one followed
Some smart birdies found somewhere to shelter today……. We needed this rain but don’t know how much the total is…. seemed nicely gentle. May continue all night, too.
The timeline on the video janky… went thru 3-4 different times in less than a minute…. and the endless spiral keeps popping up…. But hey, crappy weather, who works right?
Nest has a “cabin in the woods “ look……pretty
Long Island osprey “neighbors “
Neighboring state noisy osprey!
A dull Sunday morning….. there’s a likelihood of rain but haven’t seen any yet.
Looked like George was on the nest til at least 11:30 last night. Insecurity? Or did someone usurp his usual perch?
George was in and out a few times already and brought some nesting.
Jane stopped briefly and got a nice greeting from hubby.
Spotted 3 ospreys over the bay….. one quit the chase but here you see the other 2 in close chase….. flew off to left.
If anyone likes to watch ospreys in the fall, the Port Lincoln ospreys laid two eggs in the last few days. They are in Australia so time difference is evident. At least you can go back and check on the activities each day.
Isabella— thanks for that picture of the Bayard osprey nest. I will get there someday. If not this season, next season.
Carol and Isabella— thanks for all your pictures. You make watching this site interesting since we don’t have an offspring to watch. I am so thankful we have a good camera view this year. Thanks to the people behind the scenes who made it happen.
nfc…. thanks for the reminder. I started checking on them but have difficulty watching with the movement of the waves. I know, crazy. But I do want to at least check in to see the babies. Will start watching soon.
nfc…..first..you’re welcome!…..second… I tried to go on Aussie osprey site….first I realized I was watching a loop….then I got this. Do I have the right site?…I’ll try again tomorrow
Isabella, go to youtube and type in Port Lincoln osprey Live stream and it will come up. They have 3 eggs now.
Thank you Mary Anne!
Isabella— Mary Anne answered the question. There are three eggs now. It is on You tube. It is interesting that we can watch this nest in our fall and winter because they are in spring and summer mode then. Carol– that is funny about the barge moving. It hasn’t bothered me . It probably will now that you mentioned it. LOL
Looks like George came back………………..
United front…….
This keeps telling me my previous comment is a duplicate, while leaving the post and pics in the comment box. I checked but it does not indicate that we are turning a page……..
Let’s see where this goes…
OK Looks good. No multiple posts …
We’re supposed to be getting rain starting in the early a.m. We certainly need it! …………. Everyone, HAGN!
More in and out, separately or together….. keeping an eye on the nest. George added some colored seaweeds….
There was this guy…. didn’t get a full look at the front, but it doesn’t appear to be MT, the female who has been stopping in. Made 2 quick stops in succession, while George mantled….
Since it was bugging me, I went back for a bunch more shots. I thought if it were a male, George would not have been so welcoming….
This one shot shows what could be markings on the bib. That female, MT, has light markings, so it could possibly be her…..
Spending time at the nest today…. in and out…..
George is back to the multi-branch,,,, not sure who was in charge….. G or the stick?
**** And an OS…Sprey in a bare treeeeeeeeeee*******
George practices stick “vaulting “…….great pic and play on words !
Saturday…… and Jane was in first!
The perch must be occupied, because George mantled almost immediately.
Jane came in, already on guard….. and had to defend the nest a little later
*^$##)(+{}………………… Jane shouting alter pest… Must have spent some time on a fishing boat mast…. swears like a sailor
Jane….our salty wench!
@8:56…. George brings a really nice fish…….
Jane is right behind with a stick….. which she places carefully…… a pest followed.in the distance.
Jane doesn’t take the fish and George leaves behind her….
–
Next time they are both at the nest, Jane decides it’s time for fish…….. now much trimmed from what it was…… ya snooze, ya lose, Janie
She stays in nest to start…. she was looking around so maybe pest is still circling nearby….
‘
A little spotlight on Jane and her stick……… Joining the ThugLife…. keeping those pests in line!
Hope the pests aren’t too much trouble nest season….seems they can rarely leave their guard down!
Jane gets disturbed while receiving a “blow out “……possibly Alexis doing a fly over attempting to land on perch
Ahh…back to my spa treatment
George’s turn for alarm
Fish frenzy
Hello humans…we’re up here!……amazes me that every time I watch….no one looks up….especially this moment the chicks were yakking about their fish!
When I stopped in Cutchogue , not long ago, at the store where I worked, I was staring up at the Verizon nest. It’s been there( with 2 different towers) since before I started working there; so at least 12? yrs.? A regular customer, comes in minimum 3-4 times a week, saw me staring and was astounded at the sight of the osprey nest!
Some people are just not observant of the world around them, which is a shame
Don’t know what this was…eerie!
whoooo-ooooo-hooooooo….. On a dark and stormy night….. That is weird.
Oh Boy yes it is-spooky-its 12’07 p.m. 8/15 & finally saw(think is George) so handsome-has that windblown look!
@19:39….. George came in with a good fish…………….. He patiently waited……..
Jane slipped in over the camera. George was sitting next to the fish………. Jane took it with a smile (OK, I added that) and left…..
George sat in the breeze for a bit before taking off…. HAGN!
Looks like a clear night, temps falling to high 60s. Saturday starts out with sunshine…..
George and Jane were in and out…. Jane was here more than she has been lately……..
George missed the runway….. Jane just shrugged him off…..
Sailboat watching……..
And look who slipped in…. Ms. Thing…… George is just trying to be inconspicuous….. She hung around 5 mins. or so
Was looking at google images of osprey nest. Thought this looked familiar. I was right. It’s the nest at the arboretum . Didn’t know there was a osprey watch.
🐥🐥🐥
Photo wouldn’t load 🙁
George pops in and out
Isabella…. nice shots… like how, in the last one, George’s tail lines up with the stick ring!
It’s Friday! The old out-moded idea of a weekend of freedom still persists, despite so many jobs requiring our presence…. especially all the essential workers! It looks like we are having at least 2 days of sunshine, with unsettled weather heading in Sunday……. always subject to change…
The early morning boat glides through the dark…..
Happy Friday, George! He remembered his leftovers and has breakfast.
Jane comes in,,,, already annoyed by someone above her…. Gonna be a long day, Jane! George says “Hi!” then goes out for a new rug…..
George shows with a fish @08:26, but Jane isn’t interested…….. She’s watching for the pest and takes off………
George hangs around, calling.
Jane is back…. looks like someone was aiming for the perch but Jane put a stop to that……
George comes back, carting his fish……….. Jane’s still not hungry…… so George winds up hanging with his l’il scaly buddy
George brought in a nice sized fish. And sat………………….. almost an hour altogether…..
He eventually started picking at the fish but did leave some sitting on the side of the nest when he headed to the perch…..
Next encounter……. George is on the nest as MT comes in. She sat for a minute then must have spotted Jane, the bullet.
As MT left, George went. Jane barreled by and all 3 birds could be seen milling over the bay.
Jane doubled back in triumph…..
George takes care of business ….. a small new stick……. then a bigger one. He and Jane came in from opposite sides, him with a stick. Safest just to fold up!
They spent time together just sitting and watching….
Ms. Thing (MT)making her presence felt…..
MT was on the nest as Jane came in……. she mantled really low, so when Jane started going for her, she just hung tight.
Jane stood and looked at her, then went to perch….she circled back down and chased MT out.
..
Is it safe to land now?????????
Look who’s here again… despite George’s protest…
She’s here with attitude today…. maybe looking for another fish to steal…. she steps right up behind him…
She was in no hurry to go…….. keep testing George, coming up behind him till he flew straight up, flapping her with his wings…
And then, SHE got nasty! She went after him! Chased him off the nest before leaving herself…
..
George was back….. cleaning and fixing HIS nest.
I wonder if this is Jane2… the female who was here at the beginning of the season, before JANE re-took the nest. I haven’t compared but it does remind me of her.
Another day of drama on “who’s nest is it anyway “…….Jane needs to reclaim her nest and man! Alexis needs to move on!
Starting out with a sunny Thursday….. clouds hanging around. Supposed to stay under 80. Wretched humidity still 81%.
GM, George…
Jane stops by.
George is in and out, tidying the nest and surveying the neighborhood. He brought in a new stick.
George brought in a decent fish. He sat for 20mins or more, looking and calling.
When he took off, fish and seaweed trailed behind.
When he was back a few minutes later, seaweed was still on his talons but no fish……..
This time, when he left, his feet were clear but some things flew up in the downdraft….
@17:20….. Ms. Thing lands……
George comes right behind with a fish and goes to right to mantle…..
Mystery woman casually walks behind him…… As he goes to take off, she dashed in and grabbed his fish! She hung on to it as he tried to fly, until he had to let it go…… “BYE< BYE, Sucker!"
Aside from the lack of freckles on the side, the 2nd female is not as heavily marked across the bib…. also looks like a lighter, possibly younger bird.
Jane in top photo….
George , our hero, made sure Jane had dinner.
He came in @19:38 with a 1/2 fish, Jane hot on his heels.
He didn’t even make her tug it, but dropped the fish for her. Off she went……
Between the fish deliveries, Jane had met George at the nest….. and someone else was flying around…….. hmmmmmmmmm……….
I’m glad George brought the 2nd fish. These two seem to miss each other lately. Jane is off exploring, maybe getting itchy wings…… not ready for her to go, but then, I never am……
Free dinner 🐟…..this chick does not give up!…..looks like the same female that’s been “hounding “ them most of the season….I’m going to call her Alexis..from Dynasty! Lol
George made a quick stop…..peeped a few times and left…..Jane answered a tad late….didn’t catch her….screen froze
When I posted this pic awhile back about the fish head song…. I thought…this kid looks just like will robinson from lost in space …..it is him!….he is the one half responsible for the song
And here’s the pic
To bee or not to bee………………… or maybe a fly?
Same bee?…photo bombing….someone was on the perch…you could see shadow
Still pests around…. probably scoping out for next season….
George has been in and out, yelling insults.
This time, Jane comes to back him up and posed for a close-up while she’s here.
Welcome, Wednesday! Happy Hump Day!
GM, George!
Morning, Jane! She walks right over to rearrange décor
Both leave…..
AND George is back in minutes to re-fix that reed Jane moved…….
He fiddles with some other pieces but that reed was important……
And a new stick comes in….. mercifully carefully tucked to the right.
We had a quick rain episode … Started as a sun shower and lasted maybe 1/2 hour. Think that’s it for the day. Supposed to be partly cloudy and maybe hit mid 80s. with 87% humidity
Dear CarolV and Isabella, Thank you so much for your daily entertainment! This Osprey season ‘s happenings or lack of just adds to the crazy 2020 year, but we appreciate your daily terrific photos and quips, xoxoxoxo
TY, PattyK…. Since we still love our couple, just checking in on them but gotta add a little humor!
Thank you so much PattyK!…….super appreciate the appreciation!!!…..hope your year is going as well as can be! xoxo
Happy Tuesday…….
George comes in; Jane follows for a brief chat before she takes off.
George bounced in and out…. had a nice calling session while giving us some close ups…..
This was the only fish I saw Tuesday…….. look closely behind George’s knee….. get out the magnifier…..
George was in and out as usual…. BuhBye for now!
Moon setting…sun rising
Incoming George
You can almost set your clock to these two….George does his bela Lugosi…Jane shows up…says good morning…goes to perch
Back to Bela…takes off
Hello gorgeous George….see you later
Isabella…. that “moon” may be a boat’s light. Traveled across that side of the bay right to left……..
If we’re looking at the same thing…
a few minutes earlier…..
It’s always a little creepy watching them….. like a water spirit coming across the water……
I’m pretty sure it was the moon….I watched it go down…but I know what you mean…I watched this boat come from the right….looked like alien 👀….eerie
Slow day at the OZ. I did hear some calling in the distance, so we may still have a visit.
Jane stopped in about 12:30. She did some calling and looking around. Probably looking for lunch.
George came in @16:45….. stayed 45 mins,. just sight-seeing and meditating before he took off.
George was in and out on some short stops. He was calling and looking around…
Gorgeous George stopped for a selfie
Hi CarolV!…. I watch on a iPad…..rewind worked last season. Don’t know why not now!……sorry about your new phone. Must be frustrating!🤬
Yeah…. held on to my old iphone 5 till it literally fell apart…. had my ponytail stretchies holding it together…. RIPieces, little phone…..
Hello, Monday!
Early breakfish…….. @06:39…………..Jane races in just in front of George and can’t wait to get a claw on that fish! And away she goes
George adds to the furniture and finds the perfect spot……
Daylight comes and George comes home
Has a think 🤔
Does his best Bela Lugosi….
Jane starts her morning chitchat
Gets no answer….decides to neaten up
George finally replied!
Jane didn’t care for what he said!
Back to square one
What’s an osprey to do….
Try and block our view!
By George!
Moon over ospreyz 🌛
George looks carefully……………..
……………………………… as Jane stops to say good-night
Never tire of seeing Jane’s freckles!
Quick glimpse of the Stars&Stripes…….Bottom left. Visibility was better when it was flapping….. Haven’t seen it this year.
Lazy afternoon…. George made some visits …..
@14:40….. George in with fish. He stood waiting about 25 mins. and Jane didn’t show…. BuhBye!
About an hour later, he stops in….. A shadow settled on the perch to the left, as George coy mantled ….. left after about 10 mins.
Camera was off briefly @6p.m….. George stopped in briefly when it came up. A visit on the right…. possibly Jane….
G..was back for a longer perusal of the area a bit later.
gEORGE IS IN EARLY….. SAYS GOOD-MORNING TO jANE, WHO IS UPSTAIRS. hE RUNS OUT TO THE STORE….
Jane drops to nest to tell someone it’s occupied so scram…………
@06:22, George stops by to show Jane the fish he caught…… oops, sorry, Jane. George needs his share….
G is back @07:17 to turn over Jane’s breakfish…..
..
Yeah!
Isabella…. do you watch on phone or computer>
I just got a new phone and found I can’t scrollback on the video …. My old phone …. an Iphone5 was fine. This new one… iphone 8something doesn’t scroll. Thought phones were supposed to add features not take them away!
But I mostly watch on computer………………………………………………………HAGN!!
Thought I posted this……
The camera came up about 6:15p.m. As a nice way to come back, George was waiting with a good fish and Jane came in to politely take it and go.
So good to see OZ again. Thanx to all who made it happen, including PSEG!
George was in and out a few more times, including this visit at sunset…….
One good thing that almost storm did was give some relief. We’re in the mid60s tonight and may not hit 80 tomorrow. Everyone, HAGN!
Splish splash Saturday bath….if you can rewind to this time…it was really something to watch!!
🛁
🛀🏼
Chicks turn
One gull….one osprey
Very cool bathing pictures! Thanks for posting!
You’re welcome!….wish I caught it from the beginning…really wish I knew how to do a video….would’ve never thought they bath like that…she would dunk her head..throw the water back…then flap wings back and forth…she did that over and over….here’s a pic of her returning to the nest to drip dry
That’s neat — like the cormorants do!
Splish splash…Saturday bath……if you can go on & rewind to this time….it was something to watch!!
Going back to 2016………… George and Gracie were ruling the roost. That year 3 chicks hatched. The youngest was named PeeWee early on. The two older were named Ronny and Sandy.
It was difficult because PeeWee had become a personality , living long enough to become “our” little one.
Unfortunately, there was a bunker die-off— when the amount of fish swimming in to the bay and river estuary overwhelms the oxygen supply in the water and the fish effectively “drown”. Birds like gulls that eat the dead fish feasted. Birds like osprey, who catch the live prey, did not.
Unfortunately, the food shortage at the nest caused sibling rivalry and food domination by the older two chicks. Little PeeWee passed.
We can see Gracie’s well loved plastic………………. Did some editing back then and pics weren’t dated. Hope these come out in order!
1st shot………….. 06/08/2016
next………………….06/09/2016
last……………………06/10/2016
And I apologize…………………… I have my years confused!!!!! Shocker…………………..
2015 was the year of Sandy, Ronnie and PeeWee….
These pics are 2016…………. Brutus, Ali and ROCKY!!!!!! All 3 fledged…..
That’s what happens when I rely on memory………
I did not take pics in 2015…. nice video in the video section for that……
It’s ok, Carol, your pics are great!
Thanks…… I’m getting used to it. My retirement gift…. pudding brain…
Having withdrawal…….. Here’s a golden oldie.
Jane feeding Squirmy as George supervises….
Thank you for the camera update. After that storm, I had a feeling it would be down. Hope everyone here made out OK…. and you too George and Jane!
TY for info. I know in HB we still have scattered outages, especially in less populated roads. Trees and branches down caused problems.
I was lucky and sailed through ok
Hope George isn’t adding to the wall
we were lucky her e in KP-but to try to get through to PSEG was unacceptable-hope George & Jan e are safe!
Oyster bay is back on…..nobirdy home……..patchoque
We had a nice look at the moon rising before the camera pooped out about midnight.
There’s been power outages all over since the almost storm yesterday. Hopefully, that’s all it is.
Are they trying to tell us something?…..is that the same stick?
Braving the storm!
Pretty sky!
Haven’t seen anyone stopping by this afternoon. George will probably love his new sculpture.
Camera went down about 5pm. Not surprising with that wind.
And I thought the wind would blow OUT the loose sticks! hahahahaha
Did George have these stacked in the corner?????
Tornado alert is expired but still getting some gusts. Sun’s coming out.
Having flashbacks to last year……………
The usually calm bay is not having a happy day!
It’s more just spitting than raining. My house is similar. Windy with gusts. Already calming down by me….. she said as another gust came thru….
Nobirdy home
Rocking and rolling in barnegat…..very windy!
The flagpole is down….there’s a new stick in town!
Prayers for our feathered friends right now-poor things!
Yes!
We made it to midnight without the cloud cover, so we got to see official full moonshine @11?59pm
George showed up in the wee early hours and stayed till morning.
Starting the day with seaweed.
George coming in the dark…………
George kindly removed the offending stick, with a vengeance………………… and a quick smoooosssshh…..
He greeted Jane…. she had been on the perch vocalizing, before dropping in
Soooooo….. he wasn’t doing us any favors….. he was just making room for a TV antenna! Remember those?
He was intent on watching someone overhead. There seemed to be a lot of flying back and forth.
And a small stick to prop the antenna.
The wind is picking up…… George wears his crown well
And that stick is rolling back and forth….. pu on your traveling shoes, stick, and take a hike.!!!
And there’s Bug Light in the spotlight……….
Fourth pic sooo funny!
Antenna….little to the left George….still getting “ snow “!
Incoming and outgoing fish
The late night show….don’t know who is on the nest…..or what’s going on across the bay?…..fireworks this late?
Still there
It’s George….we both have insomnia…..and the stick has to go!
Now he can rest and watch the bay
The late late show
The morning show…..I’m going to bed now George!
Nobody BEE home!
Haven’t seen anyburdy. The video was down at one point, maybe 45 mins. or so
George stops in; calls………………………………… gets upstaged by Buzzy….
The moon was pretty darn bright even though not officially full until almost midnight tonight. Cloudy weather heading our way.
GM, George…………….. he arranges those sticks to be even more annoying. …… ……. We have weather approaching., with winds attached. These sticks already wobble in the breeze. Fingers crossed that they will go sailing…………..
Jane 1/2 shows up and goes.
Otherwise, it’s 8:30 and they are busy elsewhere this morning.
.
Moonlight illuminating ospreyz flagpole
Bay Breeze ruffles Jane’s “ hair”
Osprey can’t read!
Hunkering down in the wind 💨
George has made 4-5 short visits this afternoon. He calls when he comes in. I guess Jane is off adventuring.
Despite the rolling cloud cover, my app isn’t showing rain til Tuesday. There is a brisk 10mph breeze from the south.
I see where G got the idea for his feather ‘do.
Ominous look but they say no rain tonight and sun tomorrow.
Around noon, George was back, carrying his fish.
Jane was behind him and chatty. But not interested in fish………… they sat for a while and eventually, George and his sidekick took off and Jane followed maybe 5 mins. later
Wow! I did a doubletake when that floated across the screen! 2 fish before 10 a.m.!
George is just sitting and calling now….
He sat for a while then took the elevator to the perch.
Prelude to a full moon…….
Busy Sunday morning…. ins and outs…. some seaweed deliveries….
It wasn’t just George…. Jane was around…. just like old times.
The Sparrows making use of that great stick! Or so they say….
Jane clearing her throat……..

The King surveys his domain……………
Jane has a few words with George….then heads straight down to the beach….back to nest
George left the perch…Jane took his place
Jane came in and went straight to defense………..
George came in and caught a little left over attitude.
Jane paced around, talking, and her tail straightened that lovely stick.
Jane and her yammer went to perch. George checked her before going.
George stopped by to visit his stick…..
@13:40…… George shows with a fish….. He sat calling….
Jane came in…………. she should mild interest in the fish but George took off. Maybe if she doesn’t show the excited interest he knows she’s not that hungrey?
She sat about 1/2 hr. before taking off.
Sorry… looks like my spelling/typing has gone to ………. need a proof reader!
This morning, George showed up first thing with a whole fish…………. He called for Jane.
When she showed up, he wouldn’t let her near it and took off………
When George came back about 20 mins. later, Jane was gone. He did call for her several times.
He had taken the head off by now, as usual, but when Jane didn’t respond, he finished the fish…………. Sorry , Jane, too late to the party!
